Winter Pastels was commissioned by 91 Magazine. Following a glorious summer, full of sunshine and beautiful colours featuring both in fashion and in interiors, Laura Sawyer, interior stylist, was inspired to create a winter story without the usual icy tones and dark mood. This shoot took place in the autumn months just before the big chill of winter set in. Therefore we decided to create an understated Christmas style, still using all the Christmas-y elements of baubles and Christmas cards but with a feeling of brightness and optimism. These pastel shades have been combined with soft wooly textures, geometric designs, and highlights of black, which gives a more grown-up feel to the scene.
This story also focuses on design, featuring pieces that have been designed by independent artists, many from the UK. Pinch, Margo Selby, Niki Jones, Ambrose, Katy Leigh and One Must Dash are all UK designers.
Laura Sawyer is an Interior and Prop Stylist, working on shoots, events and consulting for brands and individuals. She is great fun to work with and is always full of new and fresh styling ideas.
